Happiness through authenticity
When my 13 year old son and I were first introduced to Roisin, I knew immediately that she was the right person for us. Her warmth and sincerity were obvious, and she immediately understood the situation and read my son completely, from his stance and facial expressions to his mannerisms and (having to wear masks) even just looking at his eyes.
Roisin uses various ways to rationalise behaviours and choices, each of which are helping and have been explained in a way that are both clear and understandable. With the methods taught and being used, I am watching my son gradually rebuild his confidence and deal with his inner uncertainties and know that his continued weekly sessions with Roisin will create a more self-assured young man able to tackle whatever comes his way.
I have to say as a Mum, watching your child going through a difficult time and not being sure what else to say or do to make it right, is one of the worst things you can imagine. A feeling of total helplessness. Roisin has not only supported my son, but she has also worked with me on how best to manage each episode and listened to me with empathy and kindness.
I cannot recommend her highly enough and am so grateful.
Roisin has worked wonders with our 12 year old daughter. Her straightforward and nurturing approach was really well received and within a few weeks we began to see a big difference in her attitude, behaviours and self-confidence. Roisin is always happy to help with any parental queries and goes the extra mile to make sure things are progressing. I’d really recommend her for any child who is having self-confidence issues.
Susie has transformed our household, she’s an absolute Godsend who has continually gone above and beyond to support us (myself, my husband and our 2 x boys) over the past 1.5 years! Before Susie our house was chaotic, to say the least, and we were struggling hugely to manage our eldest son’s behaviour, so felt incredibly fortunate to find out about Susie. Through the incredible techniques Susie has taught us and the advice she’d shared, my husband and I have learned so many new parenting skills and techniques which have made a huge difference. The improvement in both of our boys’ behaviour has radically changed – for the better. The house is much calmer now. We still run into challenges and we are so grateful to have regular sessions with Susie, to help us work through these. Our boys adore Susie and we would recommend her to any struggling parents or those unsure of how to deal with behavioural challenges with kids. She will do the world of good!
We were at the end of our tether with our 6 year old’s emotional and destructive outbursts. With Susie’s guidance, we have implemented some changes and it has been amazing to see improvement in our son’s behaviour and how much happier he is. Throughout this process Susie has continued to offer us practical, non-judgemental hands on support. We cannot recommend her highly enough.
When our eldest son (age 8) developed anxiety and worry over being sick and illnesses we felt at a complete loss as parents how to help him. He was struggling at school, unable to eat his lunch, and beginning to wash his hands obsessively. Thankfully we came across Susie. Through her professional, non-judgemental and friendly approach, she worked with us as a family and our son on a 1:1 basis to help him overcome and take control of his worries. Susie has worked with him through play, as well as taught him (and us as parents) strategies he can use at home and at school should he feel overwhelmed.
So when our middle son (age 6) was struggling with his confidence and managing his emotions at home, we knew that Susie could help us. Again, in just a few sessions we have seen huge positive changes. Our son has grown in confidence, he is able to attend parties, manage his friendships, contribute and participate in the classroom as well as manage his own emotions and feelings at home without screaming tantrums. And alongside this success, Susie’s work has helped our son overcome his nocturnal enuresis.
Susie has helped us understand our children better. She has taught us ways to manage challenging behaviour at home, so that we can all be happier and live in harmony. It is so reassuring to know that we can get in contact with Susie again, should we need any further help.
“I was blown away by the session and felt it should be for every child. I wanted to shout about how good it was. Brilliant.”
“Schools are all about making the difference and as Heads, we are bombarded with people and organisations that claim that they can make that difference. I’m always sceptical and tend to work from colleague Head recommendations and that is how I was first introduced to Roisin.
Roisin is a unique professional who understands young people with clarity that is rarely seen. It is the bespoke nature of this work that is key to its success. Let me be clear, there is nothing fluffy about the work that Roisin does, it is high support and high challenge for both the young person and their families.
Where many other interventions have failed, Roisin has empowered some of our most complex and challenging young people to make positive changes and turn themselves around.
As budgets become tighter and decisions need to be made around interventions, I have chosen to maintain our relationship with Roisin. Due to its impact, increasing the amount spent enables more of our students to experience this powerful work.
Roisin is a highly skilled professional who is very effective in all that she does. She works in tune with the organisation taking on board the values and ethos of the school. This support makes a massive difference to our students and their families.”
“Having worked as a teacher for a number of years I have been through various sessions with the restorative justice label but have often been left feeling as though we were just paying lip service. My session with Roisin and a student was without doubt the most productive I have ever had. She was able to balance being empathetic, whilst also adopting a no-nonsense approach to passing blame. Roisin was able to look at some hard truths, whilst building the student (and me) up, rather than knocking anyone down. This allowed us to truly reconcile and see each other in a positive light.”
